Le service de Neurochirurgie du Pr Sébastien Froelich à Lariboisière est internationalement reconnu comme leader pour la prise en charge des pathologies de la Base du Crâne.
Au 1er décembre 2024, le Dr Bertrand Baussart, référent national en chirurgie hypophysaire, rejoint le service de neurochirurgie de l’Hôpital Lariboisière. Formé au sein de l’une des plus prestigieuses écoles françaises dédiées à la chirurgie de l’hypophyse — dans la filiation de maîtres tels que Gérard Guiot, Patrick Derome, André Visot et Stephan Gaillard — il s’inscrit dans une tradition d’excellence où l’expertise se transmet de génération en génération. Cette formation de haut niveau lui confère une maîtrise reconnue dans la prise en charge des pathologies hypophysaires rares, notamment la Maladie de Cushing, l’Acromégalie et les Prolactinomes.
L’arrivée du Dr Baussart s’intègre dans un contexte particulièrement favorable : l’Hôpital Lariboisière dispose aujourd’hui de l’une des premières filières européennes actives dédiées aux patients porteurs d’une pathologie hypophysaire, avec plus de 3 500 patients opérés par voie endoscopique.
L’activité neurochirurgicale du centre se construit en interaction étroite avec le service d’Endocrinologie du Pr Jean-François Gautier et du Dr Marie Laloi. L’équipe participe de manière soutenue aux Réunions de Concertation Multidisciplinaire (RCP) en Île-de-France, coordonnés par des services d’endocrinologie de référence (Cochin, Kremlin-Bicêtre, Pitié-Salpêtrière, Saint-Antoine, Ambroise-Paré, Saint-Joseph). Elle est également sollicitée au niveau national dans les RCP mensuelles « Tumeurs hypophysaires agressives » (HypoCARE) et « Craniopharyngiomes » (CranioCARE), coordonnées par le CHU de Lyon, confirmant son rôle central dans l’organisation du parcours de soins des patients atteints de tumeurs hypophysaires complexes.
Parallèlement, à partir du 1er novembre 2024, le service accueille également le Dr Chiara Villa, neuropathologiste internationalement reconnue, qui rejoint le service d’anatomie et cytologie pathologiques dirigé par le Pr Homa Adle-Biassette. Le Dr Villa est une experte de premier plan dans le diagnostic histologique des tumeurs hypophysaires. Elle contribue activement à de nombreux groupes de travail européens (EPPG, EuroPIT) et est co-autrice du chapitre consacré à la classification des tumeurs neuroendocrines dans la Classification de l’Organisation Mondiale de la Santé (OMS, 2022). Son expertise exceptionnelle s’accompagne d’une production scientifique de haut niveau, incluant de nombreuses communications internationales et des publications majeures en recherche clinique et fondamentale dans des revues à fort impact.
L’arrivée conjointe du Dr Baussart et du Dr Villa constitue une avancée stratégique majeure pour l’Hôpital Lariboisière, renforçant la qualité du parcours de soins, l’excellence scientifique, et la visibilité internationale du centre dans le domaine des pathologies hypophysaires.
