Your discharge will be decided by you and your neurosurgeon, depending on your medical progress.
It will be organized by the nursing team, who will provide you with all the documents you need to organize your post-operative period:
- Discharge orders,
- Prescriptions for post-operative care and staple removal
- Follow-up appointments,
- Hospital report for you to give to your doctor when you see him/her, if he/she hasn’t already received it by post. A final report is usually sent to the attending physician within 15 days of discharge. If you don’t receive it, please let us know,
- Work stoppage,
- Depending on the pathology and the regulations in force, ambulance or cab transport may be prescribed.
If necessary, and if you are unable to return home directly, a stay in a rehabilitation home may be considered.
Discuss this with your surgeon during the pre-operative consultation. If convalescence or a stay in a rehabilitation center is envisaged, speak to the care team as soon as you are admitted, and contact the social worker as soon as possible.
Before leaving the hospital, you’ll need to go to the Hospital Charges Department, located in the yellow sector at Gate 6, to complete your discharge formalities.
