Published in the international journal Neuro-Oncology, which has a high impact factor (IF=13.2), our latest research offers a significant advancement in better understanding and predicting the behavior of pituitary adenomas (PitNETs), whose progression can vary greatly from one patient to another. Due to the rarity of aggressive forms and the heterogeneity of clinical practices, their classification remains complex.
Molecular signatures and tumor profiles
By integrating clinical, histopathological, and genomic data, we identified molecular signatures associated with unfavorable progression and highlighted distinct tumor profiles correlated with aggressiveness, particularly for corticotroph and lactotroph lineages.A new histomolecular classification
These results have led to the proposal of a new “histomolecular” classification, combining biological and histological characteristics, with the objective of:- Better estimating the risk of progression.
- Helping to adapt patient management earlier in clinical practice.
