Assessing and improving professional practices
What is it?
A multidisciplinary consultation meeting (réunion de concertation pluridisciplinaire – RCP) is a method for evaluating and improving professional practices. The procedures for organizing a RCP are defined in the French Public Health Code, and are mandatory for cancer treatment. They must be formalized, with a clearly established rhythm, a coordinator, a secretariat and traceability of decisions taken. The RCP enables a multidisciplinary analysis of the patient’s file, which is perfectly suited to the management of trigeminal neuralgia, which depends on both algologists and neurosurgeons.

RCP Trigeminal neuralgia
The RCP enables a multidisciplinary analysis of the patient's file, which is perfectly suited to the management of trigeminal neuralgia, which depends on both algologists and neurosurgeons.
Who's involved?
Algologists (Doctors Delmotte and Measso Sananes) analyze the patient's pain history, adapt drug therapies and eliminate differential diagnoses. Radiologists (Docteur Souillard) analyze the patient's images, confirming the presence or absence of neurovascular impingement and diagnosing any pathology that may be responsible for secondary neuralgia. Neurosurgeons (Doctors Caudron and Nataf and Professor Devaux) can suggest and organize surgical management when necessary. Outside contributors (headache centers, CETDs or neurologists from other hospitals) can also present a patient's case.
What's next?
After discussion, a PCR decision is made and recorded in the patient's file. In the days following the meeting, the pain medicine (Ms Blumel) and neurosurgery (Ms Bellali) secretariats coordinate to schedule consultation appointments. Finally, the scheduling nurse (Madame Teillet) organizes and schedules an anesthesia consultation and surgery when recommended and accepted by the patient.
