ZAP-X® Gyroscopic Radiosurgery at Lariboisière Hospital
Discover how Lariboisière, Saint-Louis, Beaujon, and Hartmann hospitals, an ELSAN group facility, are joining forces to revolutionize radiosurgery.
What Is Radiosurgery?
Radiosurgery is a therapeutic modality that involves delivering highly precise irradiation to a brain lesion through the convergence of multiple miniature X-ray beams.
This technique is particularly useful for treating deep-seated tumors for which surgical intervention would be too risky. It can be offered as an alternative to surgery and is preferentially indicated for small to medium-sized lesions.
A simplified care pathway
In 2025, with the installation of a ZAP-X at the Lariboisière site, the range of therapeutic tools available to the neurosurgery teams at Lariboisière and Beaujon hospitals will be significantly enhanced, contributing to the streamlining of care pathways.
The expertise of the neurosurgeons at Lariboisière and Beaujon hospitals and the radiation oncologists at the Hartmann Radiotherapy Institute and Saint-Louis Hospital will thus be brought together at a single site around the same innovative project.
As a latest-generation particle accelerator, self-shielded and delivering radiation under gyroscopic conditions, it will be operated by qualified radiation oncology specialists. The radiation oncologists from Saint-Louis Hospital and the Hartmann Institute will deliver treatments under sector 1, with no additional fees.
